The Turkish police are searching for Kurdish journalist Rabia Önver following a report on state involvement in prostitution and drug trafficking in Hakkari (Colemêrg). Her apartment in the district town of Yüksekova (Gever) was searched for hours on Friday evening on the orders of the Hakkari Attorney General's Office. Apparently the aim was to seize digital equipment, but nothing was found.

The journalist was not at home during the search and has been put on the wanted list. Rabia Önver works as a correspondent for the women-run news agency JinNews, which published the third part of a series on state-protected criminal networks entitled "Special War in Colemêrg". In the article, Rabia Önver described how drug consumption is promoted in the Kurdish province and young women are driven into prostitution.
