Jailed journalist has letters confiscated
Dicle News Agency (DIHA) reporter Þahabettin Demir in Giresun E Type Closed Prison has said that the prison administration is seizing his letters to DIHA about right violations going on in the prison.
Reporter Þahabettin Demir stated that the prison administration not only seized his letters but also subjected him to investigation on the grounds of “jeopardizing the safety and order of the institution” by reporting about treatment and disciplinary punishments against prisoners.
Demir also said that the around 50 ill prisoners in the prison aren’t provided with medical treatment and noted that the political prisoners are constantly being subjected to ill treatments. Demir has recently been subjected to a disciplinary proceeding because of a letter he sent to DIHA reporting the situation in the prison.
Demir called on all sensitive circles to raise their voices against arbitrary treatments of the prison administration.
DIHA reporter called attention to the rapidly deteriorating health of prisoners on fast in Giresun Prison and called for an answer to the demands they have highlighted.
