YPG fighter from the Netherlands en route to Raqqa

“Turkey will try to prevent us but we will go on to Raqqa", says YPG fighter Baran Sason from the Netherlands.

Several internationalist fighters within the YPG-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in Rojava are taking an active role in the Operation Wrath of Euphrates to clear the Raqqa territory of ISIS gangs. Foreign volunteers from several countries and folks are organised under “Internationalist Battalion”. One of these fighters is Baran Sason from the Netherlands.

Sason states that he came to Rojava to fight against enemies, to learn the Kurdish language and culture, and the 'Democratic Confederalism' project introduced by Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

Expressing his joy over the liberation of the Tabqa town, Sason told about the happiness of the locals once the town was liberated by SDF from ISIS.

Regarding the ongoing operation for the liberation of ISIS stronghold Raqqa, Sason says: “Turkey will try to prevent us but we will go on Raqqa. It is a last phase for final defeat for DAESH (ISIS).
