The Movement for a Democratic Society (TEV-DEM) Executive Council Member Aldar Xelîl spoke to ANF on the Turkish state’s attack last night on Shengal and Rojava’s Qereçox region.

Aldar Xelîl stated that the Turkish state attacked to break the Kurdish people and other peoples’ will and smother the democratic system. Xelîl called on the Kurds, the peoples of Northern Syria and international powers to take a stand against the Turkish state.

“THEY WANT TO SAVE ISIS”

Xelîl said: “Since the start of the Rojava Revolution, Erdoğan and the Turkish state officials have said that they will never accept the founding of a democratic system led by the Kurds on their border. They continued their efforts to smother the Rojava Revolution by entering Shehba through Al Nusra and ISIS at times, and most recently with their own army. And now that they see ISIS is trapped in Raqqa and broken in Mosul, and that the end of ISIS is near, they increased their attacks to save them.”

“OUR PEOPLE SHOULD MAKE THEIR STANCE CLEAR”

Xelîl remarked that the Turkish state aims to create a new situation before Erdoğan goes on a visit to the US to be able to negotiate with them and added: “Shengal and Rojava attacks were carried out together. They aimed to intervene with the peoples creating a free future. They never accepted our people living with their own will in the North, the South, Rojava Kurdistan, Shengal and Northern Syria.”

Xelîl pointed out that the latest attacks also targeted the Kurdish people and other peoples becoming a force of will and said: “All our people in the lands and abroad should display their stance against these attacks and develop democratic actions through various means.”

“INTERNATIONAL POWERS SHOULD CLARIFY THEIR STANCE”

Xelîl stressed that the SDF and YPG forces are carrying out an important operation against ISIS with the Wrath of Euphrates Operation to liberate Raqqa right now and continued:

“The attack the Turkish state developed against us shows that the Turkish state doesn’t want us to succeed in our fight against ISIS and they are aiding them.

The international powers should clarify their stance. Do they want to fight against ISIS with us, or do they want to act together with the Turkish state who carried out these attacks? Everybody should clarify their stance. It is unacceptable to just stand in the middle.”

“THE PEOPLES OF NORTHERN SYRIA SHOULD PROTECT THEIR FUTURE”

TEV-DEM Executive Council Member Aldar Xelîl called on the peoples of Northern Syria to protect their future and said: “Arabs, Syriacs, Kurds and all the peoples of Northern Syria know that a democratic system is being built in Rojava Kurdistan and Northern Syria and all the peoples have their representatives. This system belongs to all peoples. All peoples should embrace the resistance carried out for their future. Wherever they are, all the peoples of Northern Syria should continue their democratic activity against these attacks developed by the Turkish state to smother the future of the peoples and break their will.”
