Turkey's dekurdification policy in Shehba continues

Turkey’s operation to change the demographics of Shehba and de-Kurdify the town continues.

Turkey’s operation to change the demographics of Shehba and de-Kurdify the town continues. Turkey announced that they ended the invasion maneuver they call “Euphrates Shield” the other day, and on the same day they started settling families they brought from Homs into Shehba’s Kurdish villages.

Turkey invaded Jarablus on August 24, 2016. Then, they turned towards Rai, Azaz, Exterin, Soran and most recently, Al Bab. When Turkey invaded these hubs, their main goal was the Shehba region positioned in between and the 217 Kurdish villages therein. During the invasion operation, some 50 out of the 217 Kurdish villages were burned, damaged and invaded by Turkey’s invasion army and their allied gangs and the villagers’ property was seized. These villages start by Rai and continue towards Marea, and from Marea to al-Bab. Among the pillaged villages and towns are Rai, Dudyan, Gidriş, Tel Şehir, Karagöz, Twis, Şava, Şiverin, Belüniye, Tel Cican, Tel Circir, Qibbesin, Şeyh Nasır, Hawar Kilis, Yazıbağ, Sosinbat, Karaköprü and Karamezra.

The Turkish army and the gangs they control invaded and evacuated these villages, they confiscated property, and the planning they made for these villages was to change the demographic structure by settling families from Eastern Turkmenistan who were involved with ISIS, Sultan Murad and Liva Al-Hamza around the Tal Afar and Türkmendağı region. Steps were taken towards this during the attacks by the Turkish army and their allied gangs, but it has picked up more speed recently.

After the agreement they made with Russia over Aleppo and Bab, they pulled some of the gang members and their families that were moved to Idlib from Aleppo and settled them in Jarablus, Rai and Azaz. Lately, with the agreements they made over Hama and Homs, they have taken new and different steps. Turkey is trying to achieve this via dummy groups allied to them that they formed in Syria.

They carried out their plans under the name of Asifet Shimal, Fatih Sultan Mehmed, Kanuni Sultan Süleyman, Sultan Murad, Kanuninin Torunları (Grandsons of Kanuni), Sultan Abdulhamit, Sahil (Coast) 1st and 2nd Divisions before. Now they want to put these steps into practice through some newly formed, fairly unknown groups.

NEW GANG: SULEYMAN SHAH

The group called Liva Süleyman Shah that is understood to be a new gang group of Turkey’s issued a statement yesterday saying they started the demographics change in Shehba, and that they are settling families they brought from Homs Waar in the properties of the Kurds they pillaged and pushed out of their homes and villages. The Liva Shah Suleyman statement includes the following: “Families close to the PKK were removed from Sosinbat and Qibbesin before. 60 families brought from Waar have been settled in place of these removed families.”

The statement says all the Kurds will be removed from the region. There are preparations to settle gang members and their families in Numan and Qubbashayh villages already.

This statement is written proof that the Turkish state and their allied gangs are changing the demographic structure of Shehba. According to the statement, this will become more systematized in the coming days and it will continue. And that signals upcoming attacks on regions held by the Revolutionaries’ Army and the SDF. The Turkish state and their allied gangs are aiming for the whole of Shehba.

THIS WAS THE REASON FOR THE ATTACKS

The plans the Turkish state and their allied gangs make aren’t based on the present. In previous years, they tried to exert influence through activating Kurdish gang groups. Recently, they announced a new group called Tevgera Azadi. There was an interview in Quds Al Arabi newspaper under the name Cuma Afrin for this group. Cuma Afrin openly states that Barzani, ENKS and Turkey backs them. On the day that the Euphrates Shield invasion operation was announced to be over, they carried out a trial run of the attacks planned for the coming days on Sed Shehba, Til Rifat, Meraanaz and Ayn Dekne villages.
