TEV-DEM executive Aldar Xelîl: Turkey will burn itself in Syria

TEV-DEM executive Aldar Xelîl said Turkey’s Jarablus operation will turn back and “burn itself”. Xelîl expressed that the peoples of Turkey and international democratic groups should take action.

TEV-DEM Executive Board member Aldar Xelîl assessed the Turkish state’s Jarablus operation for ANF.

“It is certain that this operation has been carried out in return for certain negotiations, with approval from Russia, Syria and Iran. It is also certain that the US had knowledge of it and they approved,” said Xelîl and continued: “Turkey will burn itself trying to deepen the fire they set in Syria.”

Xelîl stated the following: “Bab Military Council declared right after the Manbij victory gave signals that Bab would also be liberated by the Democratic Syrian Forces and that Efrîn and Kobanê cantons would be joined. Clearing ISIS off Bab and Jarablus would mean the completion of the Northern Syria Democratic Federal System geographically, and it would break the Arab belt of the past based on denying the Kurds and create a belt of democracy in its place on the Turkish border. Particularly, Democratic Syrian Forces clearing Jarablus would void Turkey’s plan to support gang groups to create chaos in Syria and Rojava. But the Hesekê war developed right after the Manbij victory showed that it wasn’t only Turkey, and that the Baath regime and Iran were also disturbed by the ending of ISIS. Although the Turkish state had led the Sunni bloc, supported ISIS and other groups in direct enmity to Syria in the past, it wasn’t Turkey and ISIS that were considered threats, but the democratic forces. Because the goal of the democratic forces isn’t to seize power, but to develop democracy and popular rule. The power blocks sometimes clash, sometimes agree, and sometimes agree on some issues and clash on others. But if the people reached a level where they can rule themselves, no state and no dark force can destroy that will, this has been proven by the Rojava Revolution.”

“THEY UNITED IN THE ANTI-KURDISH CONCEPT”

Xelîl stated that the way the week-long Hesekê war was conducted and the regime’s and Turkey’s tone during this period shows that despite all the strain on the status quo forces in the region, they have managed to act together in an anti-Kurdish concept again. Saying that “It is understood that Turkey’s diplomatic meetings with Israel, Russia, the Regime, Iran and the US following the July 15 coup is providing results to an extent,” Xelil continued:

“It was seen that in Hesekê it was Iran that was practically doing the fighting. Again in the same process, it was significant that the Baath Regime conducted its first aerial attack at this level on Rojava since the revolution began. Rojava Democratic Autonomous Administration has made the analysis that there could be no aerial strikes without approval by Russia, which is the protector of the Baath Regime. The DSA officials and Democratic Autonomous Administration officials also assess that statements by the Regime officials were in the style of Turkey and these attacks were developed in return for certain negotiations. In the same process, Hakan Fidan’s aid visiting Damascus and meeting with the regime’s intelligence officials completed the picture. And the long silence from the US showed that they weren’t unaware of the situation.

As the Hesekê war continued, an explosion in the name of ISIS occurred in a wedding by HDP member families in Antep, border neighbor to Efrîn and Jarablus. The AKP-ISIS government answered both KCK’s declaration with this attack, and used it as an excuse for the invasion of Jarablus. On the day the Hesekê war ended with a ceasefire, the Jarablus Military Council was announced and its commander Abdulsetar El Cadır was murdered by the MİT after a couple of hours. And the same night, Turkey entered Jarablus.”

“It is known that Turkey itself is ISIS, and that there has been a changing of the guards between ISIS and other gang groups against the Kurds gaining status with the invasion of Jarablus,” pointed out Xelîl and continued: “Again, there are assumptions that the Regime, Russia and Iran have agreed to the invasion in return for Turkey neutralizing the opposition in Aleppo. It is known that Turkey cannot enter Jarablus without convincing Russia, due to the air space. Fighting in the international coalition in alliance with Kurdish forces against ISIS, the US is known to follow a balance politics between Kurds and Turkey, and to do whatever their interest requires."

“THEY PLAY A ROLE LIKE IN THE INTERNATIONAL CONSPIRACY”

Mentioning that the current alliance among the regional powers was reminiscent of the Adana Agreement of 1998, Xelîl said the following:

“After that agreement, Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan had been removed from Syria and the International Conspiracy had started. Though it’s not exactly the same with the International Conspiracy period, America and Russia taking part in this anti-Kurdish movement shows that they are not too far from their roles in that period. Especially the KDP, having taken on the same role as every period in the past, emerges as Turkey’s sworn collaborator again and the picture is complete.

But one thing must not be forgotten: The Kurds and the peoples of the region have so much more power than before. For one, the only force to push ISIS back in war torn Syria and Iraq is the Kurds. Turkey may lay siege to Jarablus, but the Democratic Syria Forces including YPG and YPJ will certainly join the two cantons and liberate Bab, thus rendering the gang-Turkey presence in Jarablus meaningless. YPG Press Office statement of “We will not pull our forces from the west of Euphrates. Nobody can tell us to move out of our own lands at this point.” is a sign of this determination.

Also, and maybe most importantly, Kurds and the peoples of Northern Syria have the only applicable project for solution that is based on the region’s peoples in Syria that has been set ablaze by Turkey and the Baath regime. The success of the Rojava Revolution and the system they have created despite all attacks by Turkey, ISIS, other gangs, KDP and ENKS shows this. And the peoples and defense forces are working for the Democratic Federalism project with great belief, led by the Kurds.

So, they will resist all kinds of attacks by Turkey and the Regime on one hand and put their system into practice on the other. It would be naive to think this will of the Rojava Revolution and the peoples can be destroyed by jet planes from Turkey or the Regime. If the Regime and Russia were able to end something with their fighter jets, they would have ended the opposition by now. Similarly, if Turkey wishes to attack from the air, it is useful to cite the Gaza example. Israel has employed the aerial strikes Turkey so longs after on the people of Gaza, but can’t be said to receive results. And it’s obvious that the Kurds are in a very different position ideologically, militarily and politically and with their resistance.

Turkey’s approach to the Kurdish issue within its borders will bring along a much greater Kurdish resistance. Maybe they can face an even larger coup attempt than the one on July 15. The alliances developing right now don’t look to be too permanent, especially considering the two international powers Russia and America and the struggle for hegemony betwen them.”

“THE GAINS OF KURDS MAY INCREASE IF THEY TAKE ACTION”

TEV-DEM administrator Aldar Xelîl said that rather than expecting a stance from the US and Russia, the peoples of Turkey and Syria should take action for the future of all democratic groups in the world, and that “Turkey will not only fail to end the Kurdish resistance and the Rojava Revolution, but also will deepen the conflict in Syria, which will only turn Turkey into more like Syria every day. But even in this situation, to say that the gains of Kurds in Northern Kurdistan will be so much more than the gains of the Turkish state would be accurate when looked at the Rojava example, although the two situations are not exactly the same.”
