AKP and KDP gangs attacking Shengal on March 3 and 14 has caused a falling out among the so-called Rojava peshmerga gangs, Masrour Barzani and Nechirvan Barzani. Moreover, it has come to light that the US authorities who met with KDP members said “If these peshmergas are under the ENKS, what are they doing in Shengal?”
FIRST, THE PESHMERGA STARTED FIGHTING
On March 3, attacks on Shengal by AKP and KDP prepped and trained gangs started. On the same day, 80 peshmerga were taken by KDP intelligence and taken to Duhok and Zakho to be questioned because they don’t want war. By March 14 when the marching civilian group was shot at, the number of peshmergas who didn't want to fight rose to 120. The so-called Rojava peshmerga who didn’t want to fight is made up of people known in the gang as the Derik Brigade. Reports say all 120 peshmerga were taken in for questioning in intelligence centers in Duhok and Zakho. They are charged with insubordination. There is word that the so-called peshmerga started working as peshmergas under many promises, none of these promises were kept and on the contrary, they were asked to fight against Êzidîs and their own brothers, and that is the defense they gave for not wanting to fight.
The man who took the peshmerga in by force for questioning in Duhok and Zakho is Lokman ... from Girke Lege’s Qulduman village, who has worked with KDP intelligence Parastin in the past and works as a so-called peshmerga now.
These so-called peshmerga who don’t want to fight seem to have understood why they were made peshmerga and the KDP reality when they were pushed onto the Êzidîs in Shengal. But it is not certain whether they can save themselves from the KDP or not. Because no person who the KDP wanted to use has ever come out alive. The fates of Dr. Şıvan, Sait Elçi and many other Northern Kurdistani revolutionaries and Kurdish patriots are known.
MASOUD BARZANI MET WITH THE PEOPLE AND THE PESHMERGA
Masoud Barzani held meetings in the Sihela Camp with the people and the peshmerga to reduce the reaction against the attacks among both the so-called peshmerga and the Êzidîs. Some Êzidîs protested the meeting Masoud Barzani held and left. On that, Masoud Barzani decided not to have a general meeting and met with the peshmerga in groups and units. These meetings Barzani held were to increase the attacks on Shengal and expand the war against the Kurdish Freedom Movement. Looking at the Êzidîs’ stance in the meeting, it won’t be wrong to say that it didn’t produce much results. But it is not easy to fully anticipate.
WHEN REACTIONS ROSE THEY STARTED BLAMING EACH OTHER
After the attacks on Khanasor by the AKP and KDP gangs on March 3, Kurds abroad and in four parts of Kurdistan showed a great reaction. This reaction wasn’t limited to Kurds either, international powers such as Germany also reacted against the attacks, some openly and others covertly. After a young woman was killed when the civilian population who wanted to march to gang positions in Khanasor was raked through on March 14, the reactions grew stronger. So much so that some Êzidî Sheiks, Mirs and Begs who are allied with KDP started to protest. KDP authorities saw the rising reaction from Êzidîs and Kurds on the one hand and international forces in the other turned to searching for someone to blame for starting these attacks among themselves. Of course the culprits would be searched among high ranking KDP officials. That is why Nechirvan Barzani and Masrour Barzani started to blame each other, saying “You sent the peshmerga to Shengal” after the March 14 attack. These accusations were the same as the ones during the start of ISIS invasion on who gave the peshmerga the order to retreat. It is still unknown who ordered the peshmerga to retreat, but the accusations between Nechirvan Barzani and Masrour Barzani in the latest attack ended with finding a third person to blame. That is why a discussion that Aziz Weysi was the one to make the gangs attack Shengal started in the KDP. Aziz Weysi made comments regarding the Kurdish Freedom Movement, Shengal and Rojava along these lines shortly before and then during the attack. Looking at his comments, it is certain that he will end up with this deal.
US OFFICIALS ASKED “WHOSE PESHMERGA ARE THEY?”
After the March 3 attacks, Germany realized the weapons they sent for the protection of Êzidîs were used against them, and sent an official delegation. Other delegations also visited Southern Kurdistan because of these attacks. One of these delegations was the US committee, whose comments were reported on by the press.
The delegation who visited Southern Kurdistan met with KDP officials regarding the attacks.
The meetings between US and KDP authorities were a questioning on who the peshmergas in Shengal belonged to. US officials said they didn’t understand what the ENKS peshmergas were doing in Shengal. They stressed that if the peshmerga are not ENKS, then they will consider these peshmerga under the KDP. They questioned why they were asked to help the KDP peshmerga cross over to Rojava by insisting they are “Rojava peshmergas. It is apparent that this situation will have some effect on the KDP-US relations. There are reports that the KDP will withdraw the gangs called the Rojava peshmerga from the field and send in their own peshmerga, to resolve this effect.
