PJAK Co-chair: Iran will either democratize or turn into Syria

PJAK Co-chair Siyamend Moûnî stated that Iran has two paths for the future: “democratic transformation” or “turning into Syria/Iraq”.

Kurdistan Free Life Party (PJAK) Co-chair Siyamend Moûnî said with the establishment of Kurdish national unity, the Kurds can emerge victorious out of current conflicts.

PJAK Co-chair Siyamend Moûnî answered the ANF’s questions on the political and military crises centered around Kurdistan in the Middle East, and the Kurdish national unity. Moûnî pointed out that the region is going through a time when political, military, diplomatic and systemic crises and the chaos get deeper. Moûnî said the Kurdish people emerging in the public eye with a joint strategy centered around their demands is greatly important and that national unity is imperative for this to happen.

UNCONDITIONAL SUPPORT FOR NATIONAL UNITY

Moûnî stressed that they are ready to give any and all support so the Kurdish people can achieve national unity and have a joint strategy, and added: “As a party engaged in the struggle in Eastern Kurdistan, through democratic confederalism we are proposing a system where all peoples and forces can express themselves and claim their rights. We propose continuing the struggle through the paradigm of democratic society against dictatorship and invasions. We have held some meetings to find common ground for Eastern Kurdistan parties and forces, and now the KNK continues these efforts in a wider range. We are ready to do whatever is necessary for our part, because we agree that the people of Kurdistan need a joint voice.”

MORE IMPORTANT FOR EASTERN KURDISTAN

Moûnî said KNK’s efforts for national unity is a great opportunity for the whole of Kurdistan and continued: “Because right now, the situation our society in four parts of Kurdistan is in forces us towards unity. These efforts are even more significant for Eastern Kurdistan. Knowing that this period of time is very critical, the issue needs to be handled outside party and personal cliches, and in a national framework. We can move past the ongoing crisis with a revolutionary, libertarian and egalitarian emergence.”

PJAK PREFERS DEMOCRATIC TRANSFORMATION

Moûnî said that considering the new administration in the US, the period since the Gulf war and the state of the war in Iraq and Syria, new developments seem unavoidable for Iran as well. Moûnî also stressed that the main axis of the crisis in the region is moving towards the Kurdistan region more and more, and that it is unavoidable that it will have an effect on Iran, be it sooner or later. PJAK Co-chair Siyamend Moûnî said Iran has two options:

- Base politics on democratic transformation in Rojhilat and throughout Iran,

- Turn into Iraq/Syria.

PJAK Co-chair Moûnî stated that the second option would be a disaster for the Iranian peoples and said PJAK’s preference is that Iran chooses democratic transformation.

PJAK IS READY FOR EITHER CASE

When asked if they are prepared for both scenarios, Co-chair Siyamend Moûnî said: “Undoubtedly, we prefer democratic transformation. If this does not happen, Kurdistan will defend itself. We have the strength and experience to do this. Nobody should have any doubt that we will defend our people and our country. We have made all necessary preparations.”
