Concerns are growing over the aftermath of Külter whose detention is still denied by state officials for 72 days despite all the reactions raised and efforts made by his family, DBP officials and the public.
Mother Kerime Külter who spoke to ANF about the struggle of her son, is awaiting for him.
Kerime Külter told that her son Hurşit had very close and good relations with his family members and would always help his mother in the housework without ever leaving her alone any second.
Mother Külter said Hurşit got remarkably interested in the Kurdish freedom struggle during his high-school period, telling; “It was then when I started to see him less. It was difficult for me to spend less time with him at first but I was later relieved on seeing him give a struggle.”
Külter's mother said her son had been arrested within the scope of the so-called KCK operations of political genocide and remained in prison for five years until he was released in 2014. She said Hurşit received treatment for some health problems he had suffered while in jail before going on with the democratic struggle after his release.
Mother Külter stressed that her son as a politician in the democratic struggle always stood by his people against the wave of attacks carried out by state forces in Şırnak in response to the self-rule demand of people. Mother Kerime said she has always wanted peace, telling the followings; "The disappearance of my son is a big torture I am suffering every day. They have ruined my house by taking my son away. Still, I do want peace to make sure that some others do not suffer the same pain and not have their children disappeared in custody or killed out on streets. I did not give up my hope though. I an awaiting my son, believing that he will get inside our house any moment."
Mother Külter continued, extending thanks to thousands who acted and asked for Hurşit Külter during all this time. She said she understands the suffering of Saturday Mothers far better now, and appreciates their effort as they ask about Hurşit's whereabouts with a photo of his in their hands. She added that she wants to join the Saturday Mothers soon.
Putting emphasis on the importance of unity to make sure that no more parents suffer the grief of losing a child, mother Külter stated that this grief will not end unless there exist freedom and democracy, vowing that their struggle for this goal will continue to the end.
According to mother Külter, it leaves no room for doubt that her son was detained by state forces. She says; "It has been 72 days since the state took my son away. They want him disappeared in custody and maybe they murdered him already. I want my son back, alive."
Recalling that Tansu Çiller, Prime Minister of the 90s, had also resorted to the methods of massacre, torture and disappearance in custody, and that all these failed, mother Külter called upon the AKP to see this fact and stop doing the same things.
Mother Külter added that she will continue her struggle for her son and all the others that were tortured and disappeared.
