Another forest fire broke out as a result of Turkish air strikes on the summit of Mount Gabar in Northern Kurdistan.
The Turkish air force has been attacking the Şêx Osman, Şeşçala, Çîyayê Bizina, Êwan and Bênat areas on Mount Gabar in the northern Kurdish province of Şirnex (tr. Şırnak) for a week. A forest fire broke out near the village of Bunisra (Yenidemir) on Tuesday. The Turkish army has declared the area a restricted area and is taking no action against the fire.
Gabar is one of the most active guerrilla areas in Northern Kurdistan. The Turkish army tries again and again in vain to destroy the guerrillas there. The guerrillas are to be deprived of their refuge by means of forest fire foundations. As a result, the military set the forests on fire in many provinces of Northern Kurdistan. At the moment, violent forest fires are also raging in Dersim as a result of Turkish bombings.
