Operation in Hol Camp will continue until security is restored

“We will eliminate ISIS ideology,” said SDF spokesperson Abjar Dawoud, while Bahar Abbas, member of the Internal Security Forces-Women, said, ”It is our duty to build a society with a free and democratic mentality.”

The security operation launched by the Internal Security Forces in Hol Camp in Hesekê, North-East Syria continues on its third day with the participation of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and Women’s Protection Units (YPJ).

The operation, which aims to restore security in Hol Camp, one of the most dangerous locations in the region, continues with determination on its third day.

The forces partaking in the operation are working hard to restore peace in and around the camp. So far, 16 ISIS members, some of whom were involved in attacks against the population, have been captured. A large amount of ammunition has also been seized. While efforts to eliminate the ISIS threat completely continue uninterruptedly, operations will continue until the camp is fully secured.

Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) Spokesperson Abjar Dawoud and Bahar Abbas, a member of the Internal Security Forces- Women, spoke to ANF about the Hol Camp operation launched on April 18.

‘The goal is to ensure security and peace’

Abjar Dawoud stated that the political and security vacuum created by the new regime in Syria paved the way for ISIS to spread among the people and pose a threat: “This situation has eliminated security in the region. We have decided to launch a large-scale operation in response to these developments. The goal of the operation is to ensure security and peace. This operation is being carried out with the determination and cooperation of the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Women's Protection Units.”

We will eliminate the ISIS ideology’

Abjar Dawoud said that, despite the security and political conditions, the Internal Security Forces have proven themselves in a difficult process, adding: “This operation aims to establish security. To some extent, the operation is succeeding and providing security. At the same time, the Internal Security Forces are working at full capacity, seeking to protect the achievements of the Autonomous Administration project with all their strength. We are acting on intelligence information at every step. ISIS members are making every effort to neutralize us. We will eliminate the ISIS ideology. We have to protect the people, women and children living in the camps.”

Expressing his belief that the Internal Security Forces will successfully complete the operation, Abjar Dawoud said that they are acting in a disciplined manner: “In general, a security environment has been created in the camp. At the same time, there has been no negative situation against civilians. We are fighting for the safety and peace of civilians. We will frustrate ISIS' attempts to disturb the peace of society.”

‘The mentality of ISIS is ingrained in children’s minds’

Bahar Abbas, a member of the Internal Security Forces- Women, stated that the operation did not only aim to capture mercenaries, but also to eliminate the jihadist, radical mentality of ISIS. She continued: “We want to ensure the safety of women and children living in the camp. During the operation, it was seen that all the playthings for children were used in a violent way. This confirms that the mentality of ISIS is ingrained in their minds."

‘The danger of ISIS is present everywhere’

Bahar Abbas stated that all security equipment has been mobilized for the operation and concluded: “This operation will be beneficial for all the people of North and East Syria. The danger of ISIS is present everywhere. When we launched this operation, it was not only for the security of the camp, but for all regions. The fight against ISIS is not only an armed struggle. We will also frustrate the special warfare tactics that ISIS wants to employ. Our aim is also to liberate and free women and children who are under the influence of ISIS ideology from this mentality and to protect the Autonomous Administration project. It is our duty to build a society with a free and democratic mentality. We must overcome all difficulties and believe in our own strength, because victory will always be ours.”
