In the Halfeti district of Urfa, a renewal of Sunday’s municipal elections was ordered following an objection by the ruling AKP party.
In the 31 March local elections, the DEM Party won the local elections with a difference of 906 votes in the district of Halfeti in Urfa province.
However, as in many cities, the AKP, which lost the elections, filed objections.
In Halfeti, the AKP appealed to the district election board on 2 April, citing "irregular voting" and "invalid" votes. The board rejected the objection on procedural grounds. However, this time the AKP appealed to the Provincial Election Board, which, thereafter, decided to renew the elections.
