YPG/YPJ repel concurrent attacks in Cizîrê Canton

Yesterday morning ISIS gangs launched a major attack between Hasekê and Til Temir with the tank, armored vehicle and heavy weaponry reinforcements they brought in from various locations in Syria.

YPG Press Office has released a statement about the ongoing clashes in Kobanê and Cizîrê Canton of Rojava.

The statement said that heavy fighting that followed the ISIS attacks on the western boundaries of the Cizîrê Canton on 23 February were continuing ceaselessly. Yesterday morning-YPG said- ISIS gangs launched a major attack between Hasekê and Til Temir with the tank, armored vehicle and heavy weaponry reinforcements they brought in from various locations in Syria.

The statement reported that fighters of the YPG/YPJ (People's/Women's Defense Units) put up a glorious resistance to the attacks which were concurrently carried out on a 9-km line. The wave of ISIS attacks targeted the Xerîta bridge, the only one in the Xabur river region and is located 23 km to Hasekê and 14 km to Til Temir, as well as the villages of Til Baz, Til Cezîrê, Xerîta, Til Tal, Til Necmê and a poultry farm near Til Necmê.

Following a heavy fighting, the attacks were stopped and the gang groups were repelled from the areas they infiltrated in. 23 members of the gang groups have been verified killed in the clashes that are still going on. Corpses of 10 militants as well as large quantities of ammunition were also seized.

The statement said that 6 fighters of Defense Units who bravely fought in the repelling of the attacks have lost their lives.

YPG/YPJ fighters thwarted another attack attempted by gang groups in the village of Xebîsh in Til Temir last night, and destroyed a military vehicle of the gangs en route between Til Temir and Alya, leaving casualties in unverified numbers.

Regarding the ongoing fighting in Kobanê where resistance against the occupation attempt of ISIS gangs continues for the 206th day, the statement said that YPG/YPJ fighters carried out an attack on the gang groups near the village of Sepeta Ereban to the south of Kobanê, leaving 2 gang members dead, as much as ascertained.

YPG Press Centre said Defense Units launched another wave of attacks in southeast Kobanê last night. Fierce clashes erupted upon the offensive which targeted the villages of Minîfê Kor and Xweydankê, and Çelebî quarry area, YPG said, adding that details of the fighting will be announced later.
