A military campaign, Operation Commander Rubar Qamishlo that was initiated on May 6 with the objective of liberating the western rural areas of Canton Cizîre from ISIS threats, endures in its 14th day achieving significant successes, reported YPG Media Center in a written statement today.

The statement said that YPG/YPJ (People’s/Women's Defense Units ) inflicted severe blows on ISIS groups after encircling them last night. Fierce clashes took place as Defense Units advanced from two northern sides of the Mount Evdilezîz.

After cleansing the village of Xerra on the slopes, YPG/YPJ fighters started advancing to the summit of the mountain last night. Following night-long fighting, the strategic radio station was taken under control in the early hours of the morning. While the exact number of ISIS casualties couldn't be verified, corpses of 6 gangs were seized, YPG said.

The statement said that the villages of Tal’a, Meraqib and Medîne were cleansed of gang groups and liberated by another group of fighters advancing to the mountain. The casualties left here couldn't be verified either, while corpses of 5 ISIS members were seized in Meraqib village.

YPG Media Center reported that Mount Evdilezîz (Kezvan) was completely cleansed of ISIS groups, marking another historic victory today noon.

According to the statement, two fighters of the Defense Units who put up great bravery and courage in the operation have been martyred fighting.

YPG stated that gang groups last night launched attacks on the western boundaries of the Serêkaniyê city after suffering heavy losses in the fighting with Defense Units. 20 members of the gang groups were killed, 4 military vehicles and one panzer belonging to them were destroyed in heavy clashes during which gangs were inflicted major blows in the areas of Til Xenzir, Til Bîlal and Til Boxa on the borderline.

Recalling that the resistance of Kobanê that aims to utterly cleanse the terrorist organization of Daesh near the city of Kobanê, continues on the 247th day, YPG said that the village of Mencûkê was liberated as a result of an operation to the east of Kobanê last night.11 members of ISIS gangs were killed, while bodies of 2 among them, a military vehicle as well as a large quantity of ammunition were also seized.

Stating that gang groups conducted another offensive in south Kobanê at midnight, YPG Media Center added that heavy clashes are continuing since the attacks against the villages of Qilhaydê, Nûrelî and Zerik and surrounding areas.
