In its July 19 statement, Democratic Society Movement (TEV-DEM) highlighted the political, military and diplomatic successes of Rojava Revolution as well as Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan’s central role in the revolution.

Democratic Society Movement (TEV-DEM) Kobanê Branch released a statement in Martyr Families Institution to mark the third year anniversary of the July 19 Rojava Revolution.

'IT IS A RESULT OF THE JULY 14 AMED RESISTANCE'

TEV-DEM member Dilişan Îbiş read out the statement and said that the July 19 Rojava Revolution that began with Leader Apo’s arrival at Kobané has left its third year behind. Îbiş stated that the July 19 Revolution has made significant political, military, and diplomatic gains, and contributed to the democratization of Syria. Îbiş noted that the July 19 Revolution was a result of the July 14 resistance in Amed.

'UNIFICATION OF THE CANTONS ENDED THE ‘ARAB BELT’ PROJECT'

In its statement, TEV-DEM said that Rojava Revolution impacted the solution of the Kurdish issue as a democracy initiative. TEV-DEM noted that peoples’ uprising against oppression and colonialism in the region began in 2011 and spread all over Rojava Kurdistan due to the anger people had towards the Baath regime that had controlled Syria since 1963.

Democratic Society Movement stated that it emerged as a third path outside the Baath regime and Syrian opposition forces, and the resistance in Rojava was the resistance of YPG/YPJ forces as well as peoples from all four parts of Kurdistan.

Noting that resistance enabled the unification of Kobanê and Cizîr cantons, which also ended the Arab Belt policy that had been implemented in the region for decades, TEV-DEM emphasized that the end of Arab Belt policies meant the union and democratic autonomy of Kurdish and Arab peoples in Rojava Kurdistan. The Movement noted that the success of YPG/YPJ would make freedom of Rojava Kurdistan more permanent, and praised hundreds of heroic martyrs who fell for the establishment of a free, egalitarian and just life.

TEV-DEM Kobanê Branch emphasized women’s leadership in the revolution and said that everyone could experience and practice the freedom of speech in the democratic environment of Rojava Revolution.

'EVERYONE SHOULD PARTICIPATE'

Pointing out that the ISIS attacks on civilians in Kobanê showed how weak and desperate the gangs were, and emphasized the role of other powers in the massacre, TEV-DEM stated that these powers try to ignore the success of people in Rojava, and called upon everyone, particularly women and young people, to join the resistance in Kobanê.
