Guerrillas of the HPG (People's Defense Forces) and YJA Star (Free Women's Troops) continue their actions in response to the ongoing attacks by Turkish military and police forces.

19 soldiers and 13 special operations police were killed in the actions by guerrillas, and two armored vehicles were destroyed with soldiers inside them. Five guerrillas lost their lives in clashes and bombardments.

HPG Press Office has released a statement providing details about the ongoing attacks by the Turkish army in North Kurdistan and actions by guerrillas in response. Accordingly;

Control of the road between Geliyê Doskê and Oremar and the one between Gevreye Civiyan and Bezelê is held by guerrillas.

Guerrillas conducted an action with heavy weapons against the Hill Çete guard post at the border of Zagros region in Medya Defense Zones at 18:00 on August 17.

ACTIONS AGAINST GRANA AND RUBAROK GUARD POSTS

An action by guerrillas with heavy weapons targeted the Grana and Rubarak guard posts at the border to Avashin region at 04:30 on August 18. While the casualties couldn't be clarified, Turkish troops shelled the surrounding areas of both posts after the action which was conducted as part of the Martyr Reşit Serdar Initiative.

One other action by guerrillas with heavy weapons targeted the Bezok guard post at the border to Avashin region at 00:00 on August 18. The troops here shelled the Adılbeg area with howitzer and mortars.

ASSASSINATION ACTION BY YJA STAR

At least one soldier was killed in an assassination action conducted by YJA Star guerrillas targeting the Hill Ortê guard post at the border to Zap region at 13:30 on August 17. Following the action which was conducted in memory of the Martyr Ekin Van, Turkish troops at Hill Ortê, Sere Sevê and Eriş guard posts shelled the Hill Kewa, Merva, Çarçıra, Yekserê, Çiyayê Reş and Hill Cehennem.

Guerrillas destroyed a base station of a private GSM operator in Celal village of Mardin's Nusaybin district on August 17.

FOUR SPECIAL OPERATIONS POLICE KILLED

In another sabotage action, guerrillas targeted an armored vehicle upon its entering the Turgut Özal neighborhood of Şırnak at 03:45 on August 16. Four members of special operations police teams were killed and two others were wounded in the action after which Turkish forces opened spreading fire on the houses in the area for half an hour.

FIVE SOLDIERS KILLED IN GABAR

Five soldiers were killed in an assassination action by guerrillas who targeted the soldiers keeping watch at a station of the state-run television TRT in Gabar at 15:15 on August 17. Turkish units shelled the area after the action.

Guerrillas destroyed a power pole and cut the electricity transmitted to the Asinra guard post off at 15:00 on August 17.

YJA Star guerrillas blocked the road between Şırnak and its Beytüşşebap district from the morning of August 16 to the evening of 17th and performed ID checks. Guerrillas discharged the supplies transported to a military post in one of the vehicles they stopped there, and distributed them to the people.

Four workers of TEDAŞ (Turkish Electricity Distribution Corporation) were detained on the road between Pervari district of Siirt and Çatak district of Van upon the complaints of the people on August 17. The workers were later released after one pump rifle, four mobile phones and one camera they possessed were seized.

The road between Pervari and Şaxo remains under the control of guerrillas for the last three days. Besides stopping passing by cars and performing ID checks, guerrillas are also informing the people about the process. A group of village guards was warned by guerrillas to lay down their arms. Guerrillas also seized the supplies transported by a village guard to a military post on august 17. The village guard was released after giving self criticism before the people.

SIX SOLDIERS KILLED IN HANİ

An action by guerrillas targeted the Hêza Sor guard post in Amed's Hani district at 09:55 on August 17. At least six soldiers were killed as a result of the clash that erupted after guerrillas hit a unit and entrance gate of the post.

Village guards laid an ambush against a group of guerrillas between Arıcak and Elazığ at 05:00 on August 18. While a clash erupted at the scene, casualties of village guards were confirmed but couldn't be verified.

ACTION IN MEMORY OF MARTYR EKİN VAN IN HİZAN

In another action in memory of Martyr Ekin Van, guerrillas targeted the Gendarmerie Station in Hizan district of Bitlis at 18:30 on August 17. One soldier was ascertained killed and one emplacement here was destroyed in the action, while the exact number of casualties couldn't be made clear.

Bitlis-Hizan and Tatvan-Hizan roads remain under the control of guerrillas since August 16.

Guerrillas hit the Police Headquarter in Pasinler district of Erzurum with rockets at 01:30 on August 14. Casualties left here couldn't be verified.

FIVE OPERATIONS POLICE KILLED IN VARTO

In another action targeting a group of special operations teams on move in Varto district of Muş where Turkish military activity continues increasingly, guerrillas killed 5 operations police on August 16. Two panzer vehicles with 14 soldiers inside them were also hit and destroyed as they attempted to move towards the scene. Another panzer vehicle that came to the area for intervention was also hir and damaged, while casualties couldn't be verified.

TWO GUERRILLAS MARTYRED

Two HPG guerrillas by the name of Demhat Mardin and Xebatkar Amed fell a martyr during the action and following clashes here. Details about the two guerrillas will be provided later on.

BASE STATION DESTROYED IN ERCİŞ

Guerrillas sabotaged and destroyed a base station of a private GSM operator located between Geliyê Zilan and Gundê Yekmalê in Ersiş district of Van at 01:00 on August 17.

Guerrillas conducted concurrent actions against the Gendarmerie Command in Muradiye district of Van at 11:00 on August 17. While a group targeted the building and watch box, where the casualties couldn't be clarified, another group targeted the Military Branch Office where 30 soldiers were present. Two soldiers were killed as they moved to the scene, and two others were wounded. The action which was conducted by Martyr Destan team left more casualties with unverified figures.

THREE SOLDIERS KILLED IN KAĞIZMAN

Three soldiers were killed and one captain was wounded in a clash between guerrillas and Turkish units near the Karakele village between Digor district of Kars and Kağızman district of Erzurum on August 16.

THREE GUERRILLAS LOST THEIR LIVES

Three guerrillas fell a martyr during the heavy clashes here after mounting a brave resistance.

FOUR SPECIAL OPERATIONS POLICE KILLED

Guerrillas closed the road between Çankaya and Göle districts of Ardahan at 08:00 on August 17. After stopping 40 vehicles passing by, guerrillas performed ID checks and informed the people about the current process. The road remained under their control till 14:30 in the afternoon.

Special operations police teams that came to the scene in two vehicles at 15:30 were also targeted by guerrillas. While one of the vehicles fled the scene, the other was hit, which left four special operations police dead. A bus belonging to a private company was also burnt down.

One soldier was killed in an assassination action by guerrillas who targeted the Korxan guard post in Iğdır at 21:00 on August 14.

Guerrillas closed the Ağrı-Kağızman road, performed ID checks and spread propaganda about the process at 21:00 on August 16.

AERIAL ACTIVITIES AND BOMBARDMENTS BY TURKISH ARMY

UAVs of the Turkish army performed reconnaissance flights over Gare area of Medya Defense Zones from 07:30 to 08:30 on August 17, and over Zap region from 19:00 to 22:00 the same day.

Troops at Grana guard post at the border to Avashin area shelled Mergê area at 06:00 on August 18.

Troops at Oremar guard post shelled Martyr Gafur and Sate area between 08.30–09.30 on August 17.

Troops at Aruş and Serbesta guard posts at the border to Metina area shelled Hill Azad and Hill Kuroşino areas between 20:00 on August 17 and 04:00 on August 18.

HPG guerrilla Devrim Bişeng (Engin Gök) fell a martyr in a bombardment conducted by Turkish army in Derava Talê area of Hakkari on August 13.
