Heavy clashes and bombardment in Şırnak

Violent clashes in Şırnak through the night gave way to bombings again in the morning hours. State forces’ attempts to enter Bahçelievler and İsmetpaşa neighborhoods were met with YPS and YPS-JIN resistance.

The self-rule resistance in Şırnak against the state’s genocidal attacks that started on March 14 under the guise of a “curfew” continues for 53 days. Clashes focused in Bahçelievler, İsmetpaşa, Cumhuriyet, Yenimahalle and Gazipaşa neighborhoods through the night gave way to intense bombing in the morning hours.

One armored digger was destroyed in the fighting that intensified in Bahçelievler neighborhood yesterday. State forces failed to enter the neighborhood and started bombing again in the morning. Tanks and artillery weapons stationed in Sîn û Ber region on Sêrt (Siirt) road and Çakırsöğüt Gendarmerie Brigade are bombing the neighborhood.

State forces tried entering the İsmetpaşa neighborhood through the upper part where the village guard family Tatars live and Kanika Jêr area on the lower part of the neighborhood. Clashes between state forces and Civil Defense Units YPS/YPS-JIN members continued until late at night. State forces failed to enter the neighborhood and started bombing intensely in the morning.

Drone activity continued through the night and helicopter activity can be seen since the morning.

Meanwhile, state forces are reportedly digging positions around the industrial region on the Sêrt road and Şırnak University campus on the Cizîr (Cizre) Road.
