HDP MP asks if Turkish army used chemical weapon in Dersim

Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) MP for Dersim has asked in a parliamentary question to the Minister of Defence if the Turkish military used chemical weapon in the bombardment in Dersim province on September 16.

Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) MP for Dersim has asked in a parliamentary question to the Minister of Defence if the Turkish military used chemical weapon in the bombardment in Dersim province on September 16.

HDP Dersim deputy Alican Önlü has submitted a parliamentary question to be answered by the Minister of Defence, Mehmet Vecdi Gönül, about the details of the bombardment carried out by the Turkish military in Dersim on September 1.

The parliamentary question said; “As a result of the bombardment launched by Turkish military forces in Otlubahçe area of Ovacık district of Tunceli on 16.09.2015, that continued for two days, 4 PKK members lost their lives and about 10 hectares of land was consumed by fire. The families, who went to the Forensic Institute to identify the PKK members told that their bodies were completely burned and unrecognizable, and voiced suspicions that some prohibited effective weapons might have been used”.

HDP deputy then asked the following questions directed to the Minister of Defence:

- Did Turkish Armed Forces use chemical or any other prohibited weapon in the bombardment carried out on 16.09.2015?

- Is there a list of the weapons used in the bombardment of 16.09.2015 available?

- In the event that any chemical or other prohibited weapons were used in the bombardment, who gave the order for the use of those weapons, and will they be probed?

- Has the State of Turkish Republic ever used any chemical weapons or some other prohibited weapons in the war it has waged under the name of fight against terror?

- Does Turkish Armed Forces possess any chemical weapons or some other prohibited ones?”
