In Cizre district of Şırnak where a state of siege continues for 56 days, the sewerage water that Turkish armed forces had recently contaminated with chemical substances leaked into the water system, leaving many residents with severe headache.

The water from the sewerage contaminated with chemical weapons leaked into the water system after a pipe explosion in Alibey neighborhood on Sunday.

Many residents who had drunk the water reported severe throat and headaches, and municipal authorities collected water samples to be examined in Cizre State Hospital.

Residents have in the meantime stopped drinking tap water due to the risk of poisoning, which was caused by state forces’ recent contamination of the sewerage with the excuse that ‘PKK members use the sewerage lines.’
