At least 8 soldiers killed and a helicopter downed in Çukurca
6 Turkish soldiers died in a blast and 2 others as a result of downing of a helicopter in Çukurca district of Hakkari.
An explosion occurred during the operation of Turkish soldiers in Çukurca area, which left 6 soldiers dead and 8 others wounded.
On the other hand, a helicopter heading to the operation area has been downed. Turkish General Staff announced that two pilots in the helicopter have died. Reports are coming through that the helicopter has been shot down by HPG guerrillas.
Local sources, however, report that a number of soldiers died as a result of the blast and following clashes.
HPG is expected to release a statement on the incident today.
