It came out that a guerrilla of the YJA-Star (Free Women's Troops) was tortured by soldiers who captured her wounded during a recent bombardment against a cemetery of guerrillas in Varto on 18 September.
YJA-Star guerrilla Ayşe Topçu has sent a letter to DIHA, saying that she suffered heavy torture and harassment in the hands of Turkish soldiers who captured her wounded on 18 September, two days after the intense bombardment against 'Martyr İsmail and Martyr Ronahi Cemetery' in Varto district of Muş.
In her letter from Muş E Type Closed Prison, guerrilla Topçu said soldiers tortured and harassed her both physically and verbally when they captured her wounded near the graveyard after the bombardment.
'I WAS PHOTOGRAPHED NAKED'
YJA-Star guerrilla told the followings as to the savagery she has been through; “When I was captured wounded on 18 September, soldiers dragged me on the ground as they took me away from near the graveyard where I was found. They stripped me naked as they told that I would be taken to an outpost. They at the same time uttered sexist swearwords and discussed about blowing my body with explosives. They later left me all naked, photographed my body and shot my video like that. In the meantime, they also harassed me physically.”
'I WAS SENT TO PRISON WITHOUT RECEIVING TREATMENT'
YJA-Star guerrilla wrote that the verbal and physical harassment of soldiers also continued as they took her to Muş with a helicopter. She said; “When we arrived in Muş, I was taken to TEM (anti-terror police department) instead of a hospital. For a long time, I was held there handcuffed behind my back. They later took me to hospital where I, however, received no treatment and was subjected to another interrogation. During three days at hospital, no health staff saw or took care of me. Nobody dressed my wounds even. I was held in a very dirty room, with my hands handcuffed to the bed. While soldiers photographed me from time to me during these three days, policemen were repeatedly warning the doctors to not treat me, saying; "this woman is the murderer of our soldiers". I was brought to prison after three days at hospital where I received no treatment."
What Topçu has been through reminds of the savagery perpetrated on the body of YJA-Star guerrilla Kevser Eltürk (Ekin Wan) whose dead body had also been stripped, tortured and photographed after her death in a clash again in Varto on 10 August. Photographs of her naked and tortured body were later circulated on social media.
