Lawyers from Asrın Law Office, which undertakes advocacy of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, has released a statement which voiced concerns over the Kurdish leader's situation. Lawyers informed that two prisoners jailed together with Öcalan on İmralı Island have been exiled to Silivri Prison in Istanbul.
The statement by Asrın Law Office recalled that they had no contact with Öcalan since 27 July 2011 despite all the applications and efforts they have made to be granted access to him. In addition, the Kurdish leader is denied visits by his family since 6 October 2014 and by HDP delegation since 5 April 2015, since when all opportunities to hear from him have been eliminated entirely.
'Nasrullah Kuran and Çetin Arkaş exiled to Silivri Prison'
The Law Office informed that two other clients of theirs on İmralı Island, Nasrullah Kuran and Çetin Arkaş have been exiled to Silivri Prison, as they have learned recently. The lawyers' requested a meeting with their clients here to make the situation in İmralı clear, but were hindered by Silivri Prison administration and officers.
“The unlawful and deliberate practice pursued on İmralı Island is being imposed here as well. We have been denied meeting with our clients without any legal basis or reason. The administration of Silivri Prison has evaded giving information to our side. Our application to the prosecutor's office has also remained inconclusive.”
'We are concerned over our clients' situation'
Stressing that İmralı Prison Administration also evades providing any information, the statement by Asrın Law Office said; “We have no information available regarding the situation of Mr. Öcalan and other clients of ours, which raises concerns on our side. We invite the Ministry of Justice and all related authorities to provide information to the public opinion, and to end the unlawful aggravated isolation on Mr. Öcalan and other prisoners on İmralı Island.”
