Tabqa siege: SDF fighters advance into the city center

Heavy clashes continue in Tabqa’s south and north Safsafah villages under siege by the Syrian Democratic Forces. Both villages have strategic importance for the city center.

 

Wrath of Euphrates Operation Room fighters are advancing towards the Tabqa city center. At around 00.40 last night, SDF fighters entered North Safsafah village. Clashes that broke out late last night continue.

Operation Room fighters who entered North Safsafah last night entered South Safsafah by early morning. There are intense clashes in both villages.

According to reports, ISIS gangs don’t allow the civilians to exit the clash zones and they target those who try to leave. Gangs are using the villagers they have hostage as human shields. SDF fighters take care to not harm civilians.

One bomb laden vehicle and another military vehicle with gang members inside were destroyed in the clashes. In clashes in both villages, dozens of gang members have been killed. The fighters have acquired 3 bodies from the gangs.

Tabqa is a strategic residential area 40 km southwest of Raqqa. Safsafah villages are strategically importance for entering Taqba.
