Demos in Europe against isolation of Öcalan and invasion of Jarablus

DRESDEN

Activists led by Uta Women’s Assembly held a stand demonstration in Albertplatz. The demonstration was held between 10.00-15.00 hours, flyers were handed out and the public was informed on the conditions of isolation Öcalan is held in. There was great interest in the demonstration from the German public. The attendees said the demonstrations will continue until the isolation is lifted.

FRANKFURT

A demonstration was held in Frankfurt, Germany by the Women’s Assemblies and Democratic Kurdish Society Centers in Frankfurt, Giessen, Darmstadt, Hanau and Offenbach in protest of Öcalan’s isolation.

The march started from Kaiserstrasse and turned into a rally in Römer Square. People chanted “Turkish soldiers out of Rojava”, “Bijî Serok Apo”, “Murderer Turkey”, “Bijî Berxwedana Rojava” and stated that the Kurdish people will stay on the streets until the isolation imposed upon Öcalan was lifted.

KIEL

Kurds held a protest in Asmus Bremer Square against the isolation of Öcalan on Wednesday as they do every Wednesday. Activists carried photos of Öcalan and handed out flyers. In speeches made in the name of DKTM, all Kurds were invited to the demonstrations held every Wednesday.

MANNHEIM

Öcalan’s isolation and Turkish state’s invasion policies in Rojava was protested in Mannheim, Germany led by the Ronahi û Berivan Women’s Assembly.

Democratic Kurdish Society Center and ATIF attended the demonstration in front of Mannheim central train station. Flyers were passed out and people chanted “Be Serok Jiyan Nabe” and “Fascist Erdoğan”.

INNSBRUCK

A protest was held to condemn the isolation imposed upon Öcalan in Innsbruck, Austria led by Amara Women’s Committee. The activists carried banners condemning the Turkish state and handed out flyers, while carrying symbolic coffins for those lost in the massacres in Kurdistan.

RENNES

More than 500 people held a march in protest of Öcalan’s isolation in Rennes, France led by Zin Women’s Association. People chanted “Free Öcalan”, “Be Serok Jiyan Nabe”. The march turned into a rally in La Mairie Square. The rally started after a minute’s silence for the revolutionary martyrs of Kurdistan and the world. Speeches in the rally stated that Kurds will continue their demonstrations for Öcalan’s freedom.

NANTES

Engin Sincer Democratic Kurdish Society Center and Zin Women’s Association held a press statement and rally for Öcalan in Place de Royel in Nantes.

The statement said AKP government acted together with ISIS to decrease the gains of Kurds in Rojava and all Kurds should take to the streets. Flyers were handed out and the demonstration ended with chants of “Bijî Serok Apo”.

BIEL

The protest Arin Mirkan Women’s Commune holds every Wednesday to condemn the isolation imposed upon Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan in Biel, Switzerland was held in Zentralplatz. Flyers were handed out, and the sit-in ended with arbane music played by the Culture Commission and chants against Erdoğan and the AKP.

VIENNA

A rally was held in Vienna, Austria against the invasion of Jarablus and Öcalan’s isolation.

Speeches in the rally emphasized that the attempts of the Turkish state will bring about new massacres and will deepen the chaos in Syria, and that the isolation imposed upon Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan must end at once.

The group carrying YPG, PYD, PKK and KCK flags chanted “Turkish army out of Kurdistan”, “Terrorist Turkey out of Rojava”, “NATO finances Turkey bombs” and handed out flyers detailing the demonstration.
