Victims of the Ankara bombing, which was perpetrated by an AKP-ISIS alliance at 10:04 in the morning of October 10, have been commemorated in many cities across Turkey at the first week of the massacre.

Labourers who gathered in Turkish capital Ankara a week ago in demand of peace against the war of Erdoğan's Palace and were targeted by twin blasts, have been commemorated in many settlements across Turkey today.

ANKARA

Two commemorations have been held in Ankara today, one at the scene of the bombings, which is outside of central train station, and the other one at central Sakarya Square in Kızılay district. Gathering with carnations in their hands, the people of Ankara held a minute's silence at the time of the bombings, 10:04, also carrying placards on which names of the victims were written. “Peace martyrs are immortal” was the common slogan chanted frequently by the mass.

The commemoration at Sakarya Square was joined by HDP co-chair Figen Yüksekdağ, HDP Ankara deputy Sırrrı Süreyya Önder and the co-chair of Labour Party Selma Gürkan. Demonstrators counted the names of each victim one by one, and all together shouted “Present” for each name. The commemoration continued with a sit-in action.

Many people have also gathered and left carnations at the scene of twin blasts in front of the central train station in Ankara. Speaking here, representatives of many organisations all stressed that the AKP bears the responsibility for the bombings which left over a hundred people dead. People’s House vice chair said unity is not possible with those who do not mourn for the victims of the massacre.

İSTANBUL

Bakırköy Freedom Square was the scene of commemorations in Istanbul this morning, which started with a minute’s silence at 10:04. HDP Istanbul deputies Beyza Üstün, Garo Paylan and Ali Kenanoğlu were among the participants of the action, at which a big banner reading “We mourn, we will not forget” was opened.

Speaking here, Ali Kenanoğlu, an eyewitness of the incident, said they have been through a time when people felt happy to be able to find the parts of bodies of their beloved ones. He remarked that some contemptible ones nearby were making firework shows during the painful process.

Criticising the imposition of a broadcast ban about the massacre, Kenanoğlu said “The government imposed a broadcast ban about every incident for which was responsible. They have done the same from Roboski and Soma to Suruç and Ankara massacres. Everyone knows about the involvement of the state in all these massacres”.

Other commemoration actions were also held in Gazi neighbourhood, Silivrikapı Cemetery and Sarıgazi neighbourhood of Sancaktepe district in Istanbul, all of which witnessed angry protests and frequently chanted slogans “Murderer state will give account”, “Thief Erdoğan, Murderer Erdoğan”.
