17 ISIS members killed as clashes intensify in Raqqa

The operation to liberate Raqqa, dubbed the ‘Great Battle’ continues with further advances since the launch of the campaign by YPG-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) on June 6.

The campaign for Raqqa, the so-called capital of ISIS, continues at full force on its 108th day. SDF fighters are advancing further in the city center despite intensifying fighting with ISIS in several locations.

Following clashes in Amin, Nahda and Hena neighborhoods, Hitîn Cemetery, and surroundings of al-Nayim and Delê crossroads, the Firdaws region has been cleared of ISIS.

17 ISIS members were killed during intense clashes while 4 DShK-mounted vehicles and one bomb laden motorbike were destroyed. SDF fighters also defused 70 mines planted by the gangs, and seized arms and ammunition.

2 SDF fighters were martyred and 3 others got wounded during the confrontations in the mentioned areas.

Clashes between SDF and ISIS continue across the city in all intensity.
