Civil Defense Units (YPS) that have recently been formed to wage self-defense against state terror in Kurdistan have been assembled under a joint coordination.

YPS General Coordination has been declared at a ceremony which was marked by a statement pledging to not to allow Turkish forces enter the areas of resistance.

The statement recalled that Yekîneyên Parastina Sivîl (YPS) has been organised recently under the guidance of patriotic revolutionary youth in the face of the crucial need to attain a professional defense force aimed to involve all societal segments in the organised resistance waged by the Movement of Patriotic Revolutionary Youth( YDG-H).

Calling attention to the AKP state's aggression on the Kurdish movement and people ongoing ceaselessly since 22 July 2015, YPS General Coordination said this offensive wasn't the first one aimed at the Kurdish civilian in Turkey, adding; "During the 93 years since the founding of the Republic of Turkey, many parts of North Kurdistan have faced genocidal military attacks against aimed at Kurdish people. These attacks continued heavily during the 20th century, and focused on the expulsion of Kurdish people from their lands over the past 30 years."

YPS General Coordination pointed out that today, the AKP regime has put a new annihilation concept into effect against the Kurdish people by updating the fascist and pro-nation state mindset of the 1920s in response to the victory attained by the Kurdish people in their struggle for existence. Drawing attention to the Turkish regime's attacks against the political gains of Rojava (West) Kurdistan since 2012, the statement underlined that the annihilation concept of the Turkish ruling went beyond the borders of North Kurdistan and targeted all the attainments of Kurds as a whole.

YPS General Coordination noted that the Turkish regime later started an inhuman aggression on the Kurdish people and democracy forces in an attempt to overcome the crisis it faced after the June 7 victory of these circles. Stressing that the attacks of the Turkish state mainly targeted Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan, the statement said the pressure on the Kurdish leader got heavier with the imposition of an aggravated isolation in İmralı Prison. "The AKP state later broke the ceasefire unilaterally, attacked HPG forces and on the other hand targeted the youth of Kurdistan, mainly YDG-H. Since that day, hundreds of civilians have been massacred, and attacks have been started gradually against the living areas of the Kurdish people. In response to the intensified attacks and impositions of slavery, Kurdish people declared self-rule in many areas across North Kurdistan, starting from Cizre, Gever and Farqîn. Defending self-rule as an expression of our people's stand for free living, Kurdish youth organised self-defense as the Movement of Patriotic Revolutionary Youth in response to the the attacks by colonialist and fascist forces that attacked Kurdish towns and neighborhoods, killed civilian people and detained them in masses who were later put in jail. Youth of Kurdistan has thereupon undertaken the mission of defending the living areas of our people with restricted means against totally disproportionate and mobbish attacks."

The statement pointed out that the Turkish state's aggression on Kurdish people has reached an advanced stage as of 14 December 2015, since when ancient Kurdish towns and civilian settlements are being attacked by a huge military force and professional military equipment.

"In response to these attacks, the resistance mounted by YDG-H also faces the requirement of proceeding to another stage in accordance with the level of the ongoing aggression. It became essential to reveal a professional defense force aimed to involve all societal segments in the organised resistance mounted by the YDG-H as youth movement of popular defense over the past six months. Yekîneyên Parastina Sivîl (YPS) organizations have been formed in many towns under the guidance of patriotic revolutionary youth leading the organised struggle."

The statement remarked that YPS General Coordination has been established by representatives of local self- defense units from the areas of self-rule with an aim to sustain more organised and disciplined activities of self-defense.

Yekîneyên Parastina Sivîl emphasised that their main objective is to wage a strong self-defense of people in the areas of resistance, vowing to not allow occupant forces enter these areas which are symbols of Kurdistan patriotism, and to spread the resistance across North Kurdistan.

Pledging loyalty to Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan, YPS saluted the committed stand of the Kurdish people whose resistance in the areas of self-rule endures.

YPS General Coordination ended its statement by calling upon the patriotic Kurdish youths to join the ranks of resistance with the spirit of mobilization, and all the Kurdish people to step up the resistance to build a free future.
