YPG General Command has released a statement on the Hesekê ceasefire: “We thank the tribes in Hesekê for their efforts on protecting the common life against the dirty plans of the regime.”

YPG General Command has issued the following statement regarding the ceasefire in Hesekê:

“The clashes between YPG fighters/Asayish forces and Syrian Baath regime army and battalions under different names that started when Hesekê was attacked and bombed by jet fighters lasted for a week.

The society leaders in the region and the tribes have played the role of mediator to stop the bloodshed and for the safety of the people.

An agreement was reached in the framework of five points for the ceasefire.

We have reached an agreement that the Syrian army and their armed groups will leave the city center, YPG forces will turn the areas taken from the regime in the 7 day long clashes over to the Asayish, both sides will release the wounded and the prisoners, the roads closed due to the clashes will be reopened, the standing of regime allied paramilitary forces like Difa El Weteni will be reconsidered.

The ceasefire will be tracked by the newly formed joint committee.

As YPG, we are ready to fight in the interests of our people to protect the principles of common life. We will not let anybody tarnish the honor of our people.

We congratulate the people of Hesekê for their struggle along with the patriotic forces and Asayish forces against the fascist regime soldiers and gangs.

We also thank the tribes  in Hesekê for their efforts in protecting the common life against the regime’s dirty plans.”
