YBŞ commander and HPG guerrilla laid to rest in Shengal

1 YBŞ commander and 1 HPG guerrilla that lost their lives on March 21 during the 'Operation Vengeance for Martyrs of Shilo' were laid to rest following a military ceremony in Mount Shengal.

After the fulfillment of religious duties in the Serdeştê camp in Shengal, the bodies of YBŞ commander Şengal Şengali and HPG guerrilla Erdal Gabar were buried in the Berxwedan and Dılgeş Martyrs’ Cemetery.

YBŞ fighters and HPG guerrillas, HPG Shengal Command representative Dilşer Herekol, Shengal Êzidî Construction Assembly spokesperson Xıdır Salih and the family of YBŞ commander Şengal attended the ceremony.

HPG Shengal Command representative Dilşer Herekol spoke before the burial and said that they were prepared to sacrifice everything in order to liberate these holy lands.

Shengal Êzidî Construction Assembly spokesperson Xıdır Salih also spoke and said that they were proud of the struggle of martyrs Şengal and Erdal. Salih noted all enemies should know that there are thousands of Erdals and Şengals making up the strength of the movement. He said that this strength would surely liberate Ezidxan.

YBŞ commander Şengal’s sister Melez Xelil Salih stated that her brother joined the resistance ranks in order to avenge the ISIS massacre in Shengal, and knew that he would not find peace unless he took revenge for the women massacred and enslaved by ISIS. Salih noted that her brother fell martyr for the people of Shengal, and thousands of more Erdals and Şengals would eventually bring freedom. Salih said that Êzidîs were massacred because of their lack of mobilization, and promised that everyone would follow the martyrs’ footsteps.

YPŞ commander Şengal’s father Xelil Salih described his son as ‘the guard of Shengal’s land, people and religion,’ and said that he and his family were proud of Şengal’s sacrifice and struggle.
