Turkish soldiers participating in an operation in the rural areas of Amed's Dicle district have attacked'Şeyh Sait Martyrs' Cemetery' of PKK guerrillas, and demolished a large part of the graveyard as well as the mosque and guesthouse in it.

The offensive on the graveyard is a follow-up of those that have targeted guerrillas' cemeteries in Varto, Lice, Dersim and Cudi in recent months, and was carried out during the three days of a military operation and curfew in the region, which came after the announcement of the area as “military security zone”.

Besides the graveyard of PKK guerrillas in Pirejman neighorhood, soldiers have also demolished the borehole that provides water to the neighborhood residents, a historical drinking fountain and an electric transformer in the area.

A group of HDP deputies and local people went to the scene upon the ending of the military operation to see that the graveyard had been demolished with explosives.

HDP Amed deputy Çağlar Demirel called attention to the scene, saying; “Acting on the orders of the AKP and those in the Palace, security forces are bombing our people's graveyards, mosques and places of worship. All these attacks are being conducted by those who claim to be based on the religion.”

Demirel stressed that the Kurdish people will not remain silent on the attacks targeting their sacred places and places of worship, addressing the following remarks to those ordering these offensives; “Do you think you gain a victory by carrying out these attacks? The fact that you have come to a point of fearing the dead even, reveals the psychological state you are in.”

HDP Amed deputy strongly condemned the operation against 'Şeyh Sait Cemetery of Martyrs' which -he noted- houses the dearest children of Dicle people.
