Til Hemîs town in Cizîrê Canton liberated

The town of Til Hemîs in Cizîrê Canton of West Kurdistan, Rojava, has been cleansed of ISIS groups and fully liberated on the seventh day of the operation by YPG/YPJ (People's/Women's Defense Units).

Til Hemîs area was being used by the ISIS groups as their headquarters in the Canton of Cizîrê.

The joint operation to liberate the region had been launched on 21 February night and participated by YPG/YPJ, units affiliated to the Syriac Military Council, Sutoro forces and Cêsh al-Senadid (Army of the Brave) which is the military force of Arab tribes in the region.

While 22 villages and some strategic points were reseized from the ISIS on the first day of the operation, 18 villages were taken under the control of YPG forces on 23rd February.

As part of the joint operation in the region, 16 villages were liberated on 24th, 23 others on 25th, 8 others on 26th and Til Hemîs town centre, 8 villages as well as all strategic points in the area today.

On the seventh day of the operation (today), joint forces of resistance have carried out an expansive attack on town centre at around 10 in the morning. Following fierce clashes, the entire Til Hemîs area has been cleansed of gangs at around 3 pm today.

While the number of ISIS casualties left today couldn't be ascertained yet, 211 members of gangs have been killed since the beginning of the operation, including field commanders whom they call “amir”.

The operation has also been supported by artillery attacks of peshmerga forces from the border of South Kurdistan and aerial strikes of the anti-ISIS international coalition.

People in Cizîrê Canton have poured out into the streets to celebrate the victory on hearing about the accomplishment of the operation.
