Despite Mardin Governorate’s banning of all demonstrations and activities to mark the Kurdish New Year, people have gathered in the neighborhoods and started flooding to Mehmet Sincar Park where Newroz will be celebrated in Kızıltepe.

Young people who gathered in Berçem Neighborhood have been stopped by the police when they wanted to enter Newroz grounds. The youths started a Newroz fire outside the area, upon which they were attacked by police forces.

As clashes between the youngsters and the police have spread into the side streets, police are randomly firing tear gas into the neighborhoods.

Despite the police attack, people are gathering in the neighborhoods to get to the Newroz area.
