İsa Oran (Mazlum) and Mesut Seviktek (Delil) who were murdered by Turkish forces in Amed's Sur district on 23 December, have finally been laid to rest. Bodies of both youths remained on street and were not handed to families for one month, during which their physical integrity was greatly damaged.

Families were on hunger strike to reclaim their children's dead bodies, together with families of two other youths similarly killed by state forces and left on street to rot; Ramazan Öğüt and Rozerin Çukur.

After identifying the bodies three days ago, families told that Mesut had been shot by hundreds of bullets, and İsa's body was in pieces. İsa's father said; “His body had been severed from his body, it was completely burnt, like with a chemical. He was disemboweled, just like an animal. I recognized him from his arm. My son's body and flesh was all in pieces.”

While burial for two youths has been allowed only today, families accompanied by HDP deputies and DBP-HDP executives have received the bodies 31 days after their murder. Thousands joined the following march from Gazi Yaşargil Training and Research Hospital to Yeniköy Cemetery to bid farewell to the two youths.

SEVİKTEK'S SISTER: TOWNS ARE HIS COMRADES

Mesut's sister Güler Seviktek, with a tray of henna which is put on the hands of couples one day before marriage, told that; "Our children have been a groom of Kurdistan. They have joined the caravan of martyrs. Towns are their comrades. Let us call Sur the area of Martyr Delil and Martyr Mazlum. Sur was their place."

ORAN'S FATHER: YOUTHS WILL BRING FREEDOM

Following the burial which was accompanied by one minute's silence for democracy martyrs, İsa Oran's father Mehmet Oran spoke, saying; "This uprising led by Leader Apo (Öcalan) will end up in victory. Freedom will be brought to us by youths putting their bodies as a shield against tanks and artilleries."

Father Oran called for solidarity with the popular resistance against attacks, saying; "Sur didn't fall, and it will never fall as long as we support it. Let's not forget that our lives depend on the lives of those resisting."

SEVİKTEK'S BROTHER: THE STATE IS AFRAID OF OUR DEAD EVEN

Speaking after, Mesut's elder brother İhsan Seviktek said; "They are afraid of our dead even, which is why they didn't hand over the bodies of our children. I call on all Kurdish mothers to name after their children to born after Delil and Mazlum. The state is afraid of them for it knows these youths will bring freedom."
