HPG: Eight soldiers killed in Mardin

Guerrillas conducted an action in response to the aggravated isolation on Kurdish people's leader Abullah Öcalan, and genocidal attacks aimed at people in Mardin's Nusaybin and Derik districts.

HPG (People's Defense Forces) Press Office reported in a written statement that guerrillas conducted an action in response to the aggravated isolation on Kurdish people's leader Abullah Öcalan, and genocidal attacks aimed at people in Mardin's Nusaybin and Derik districts.

According to the statement, the sabotage action by guerrillas targeted a bus carrying soldiers affiliated to Gendarmerie Intelligence Unit in Meydanbaşı neighborhood of Mardin's central Artuklu district at 17:45 on 2 December. While eight soldiers were killed in the action, the casualties were taken to Mardin State Hospital which was blockaded by Turkish forces after the incident.

HPG reported another action by guerrillas against a Turkish troop deployed around Hill Martyr Zerdeşt in Oremar area of Hakkari's Yüksekova district at 09:00 this morning. While the number of casualties couldn't be verified, Turkish troops shelled the scene and surrounding areas after the action.
