HPG (People's Defense Forces) Press Office reported in a written statement an expansive guerrilla action against Turkiksh soldiers deployed in Şemdinli district of Hakkari on June 10. Accordingly, at least 19 soldiers were killed and a large quantity of ammunition was seized.

HPG Press Office said that the expansive action in memory of Xakurke martyrs targeted the soldiers deployed in Gare Regiment, two hills and Hill Geniş hamlet.

The soldiers in Gare Regiment and two hills were hit effectively with heavy weaponry, while those on one of these hills were attacked with bombs from two directions. Guerrillas infiltrated into this hill and destroyed 6 emplacements where 9 soldiers were verified killed.

10 more soldiers were killed by another guerrilla unit in this area, as a result of which a group of soldiers fled towards the Gare Regiment. Turkish forces conducted a heavy shelling targeting this hill where their own soldiers were stationed. Two guerrillas fell fighting on this hill where guerrilla forces seized a large quantity of ammunition.

The death toll inflicted on Turkish troops in Gare Regiment couldn't be verified.

HPG stated that Turkish forces shelled the scenes with mortars, howitzers and cluster bombs during and after the guerrilla actions.
