People's Defense Forces Press Office (HPG-BIM) has released a statement providing details of the extensive action conducted by guerrillas in Şemdinli district of Hakkari yesterday. 18 special operation members and soldiers were killed in the action which was conducted in retaliation for the fascist attacks of Turkish forces against cemeteries of martyrs and the Kurdish people.
HPG-BIM stated that the extensive action against Şemdinli Gendarmerie Command was conducted at 17:00 on October 4th as part of the Martyr Reşit Serdar Initiative.
Guerrillas first hit the two-fold tower inside the gendarmerie post, leaving it completely destroyed, after which they targeted the soldiers near the armored vehicles outside, as a result of which 2 were killed.
Guerrillas later hit the special operation members inside the post, leaving 4 among them dead.
5 other special operation members were killed as guerrillas hit the emplacements in the post and destroyed one of them.
Turkish troops attempted to intervene the scene with armored vehicles but were forced to retreat in the face of the effective hits by guerrillas.
After taking control of the road leading to the district, guerrillas hit an armored vehicle on the road and forced it to retreat with a damage. Clashes here lasted till 18:30, during which 2 soldiers and 5 special operation members were killed.
Guerrillas retreated to their base after the action during which a guerrilla by the name of Erdelan Şaho fell a martyr.
HPG-BIM said the Turkish army operation launched in the Mergê Zerê, Geliyê Dostki and Binbir areas of Hakkari's Yüksekova district on September 27, continues.
Guerrillas conducted an action with heavy weapons at 18:00 on October 4th in response to the ongoing activity of the Turkish army in this region. Guerrillas also hit a Cobra and Sikorsky helicopter that attempted to enter the area, and forced both to retreat.
On the other hand, guerrillas destroyed a base station located between Reşinê and Serxati villages of Siirt's Eruh district at 18:50 on October 4th.
In another action, guerrillas burned and destroyed a vehicle involved in the road construction for the state between Van's Başkale district and Hakkari province at 23:00 on October 4th.
Another sabotage action by guerrillas targeted an armored vehicle of the Turkish army in Silopi district of Şırnak at 18:20 on October 2, which left the vehicle destroyed, as well as 3 soldiers dead and one other wounded.
HPG-BIM stated that the Turkish army started an extensive operation in Çemçê area of Kağızman district of Kars on October 4. Four soldiers were killed in this area as guerrillas infiltrated into the emplacements of Karakol hill in Kızıltepe village at 13:00 the same day. Clashes in this area are going on at some locations, the details of which will be released later.
Dersim - Ovacık and Dersim - Erzincan roads remain under the control of guerrillas since August 17.
According to the statement, HPG guerrilla Çiya Gabar who was heavily wounded in clashes with Turkish troops in Çiyayê Fıllah area of Şırnak's Besta region on September 1, has lost his life.
