As the military siege in Şırnak's Cizre continues for 38 days now, the unlawful aggression on civilians is resulting in further casualties and right violations every passing day. Yet another civilian has died in the town today due to a denial of access to hospital despite an injunction by the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR).
While the state forces deployed in Cizre continue the obstruction of wounded civilians' access to hospital, university student Serhat Altun who was shot by police while trying to save an injured child in Cudi neighborhood yesterday, has lost his life. Altun has remained in the area and denied access to hospital despite an injunction given by the ECtHR for Altun's hospitalization yesterday.
Tuesday noon, police opened fire on an ambulance of Cizre Municipality that attempted to enter the neighborhood to reach the wounded civilians. The ambulance had to return without getting the injured.
A child injured by state forces two days ago is also held in the neighborhood, while no information is available as to the situation of Orhan Tunç who was similarly shot the night before.
On hearing about Altun's death, hundreds including HDP Şırnak MP Faysal Sarıyıldız and co-mayor of Cizre have started to walk towards Cudi neighborhood to intervene the situation at scene. Turkish forces have started to fire on the crowd, which has reportedly left many wounded, and launched a heavy aggression on Cudi neighborhood upon the action by local people.
In the meantime, people walking to Cudi neighborhood came across the dead body of 50-year-old Ahmet Tunç whose whereabouts hadn't been known for the past 2 days. Tunç was seen to have been murdered outside his house.
Besides Orhan Tunç and an injured child, 4 more people are reported to have suffered injuries as a result of the ongoing aggression on Cudi neighborhood. All are waiting for an ambulance to be taken to hospital.
