Workers at the construction site of the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant in Mersin have stopped working because they didn't receive their wages for a month.

Hundreds of workers decided to stop working on Tuesday morning, wrote Bianet. The workers are demanding to be paid but also improvements in working conditions and enhanced safety measures at the construction site.

The workers said they are ready to sit at a table with the authorities to talk about their demands, but they have also said that they will continue their protest until they receive their wages.

On Monday, 23 Akkuyu workers were injured after the bus transporting them had an accident.
