Eight Syrian soldiers injured near Damascus in Israeli raids

The Syrian Ministry of Defense announced that 8 Syrian soldiers were injured near Damascus as a result of Israeli air strikes.

The Syrian Ministry of Defense said that the attacks took place on Thursday evening, and added that "the air strike was carried out in a region near Damascus in the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan. 8 soldiers were injured."

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), which has a wide network of sources in Syria, reported that Israel hit a government building in the Damascus countryside that had been used by the Lebanese Hezbollah, which it accuses of being pro-Iran, since 2014.

The Israeli army has carried out hundreds of attacks since the civil war in Syria began in 2011, mostly targeting military positions and pro-Iran militias.

The number of attacks has increased since 7 October, when Israel began its war on Gaza.

According to the Syrian government and SOHR, on 19 April, Israeli attacks targeted a Syrian army position in the south of the country.

On 13 April, Iran launched an unprecedented attack against Israel using 350 drones and missiles, most of which were thwarted with the help of the United States and other countries.

Tehran announced that it acted in "self-defense" after the deadly attack that destroyed its consulate in Damascus on 1 April and was attributed to Israel.
