November 25 message from the imprisoned KJA Spokeswoman Ayla Akat

In her November 25 message from Kandıra F Type Prison, KJA Spokeswoman Ayla Akat saluted all women that struggle and said "the story of Mirabel sisters is the reason for us to come together and enhance our struggle."

Free Women’s Congress (KJA) Spokeswoman Ayla Akat, who had been detained during a protest in Amed against the arrest of Amed co-mayors and jailed in Kandıra No 1 F Type Prison, sent a message to mark November 25 International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

In her message, Akat saluted all women that struggle, and said "We know well that the story of Mirabel sisters takes place in different parts of the world, and the truth that emerges from the pain they suffer is the reason for our mobilization and the reason for us to come together and enhance our struggle."

Akat stated that as the women from KJA, they could not evaluate November 25, a day of struggle and solidarity, separately from the reality of the dictatorship, the imprisonment of political people, the reality of political prisoners’ relatives, and the realities of rape and femicide that view women’s bodies as a space to occupy, rule over, silence, intimidate and massacre.

Akat emphasized that their struggle cannot be confined to a day, week or month, and every day would be November 25 until violence against women ends. She noted that this is the reason why they are being targeted by the patriarchal system.

Lastly, KJA Spokeswoman Ayla Akat commemorated Mirabel sisters, and saluted all women that struggle and take action with the knowledge and awareness of November 25 International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
