Hewlêr administration: “We are ready for dialogue with Baghdad”

The Hewlêr government has announced that they are ready for dialogue with Baghdad.

After the Iraqi army and the Hashd al-Shaabi took over all the “disputed territories” between Southern Kurdistan and the Iraqi central government from Kirkuk to other areas with the attacks launched on October 16, the Southern Kurdistan government issued a written statement announcing that they are ready for dialogue with Baghdad.

The statement issued by the Kurdistan Regional Government last night is as follows:

“The US State Department issued a statement in the name of the US government about the clashes between the Peshmerga and Iraqi forces in Pirdê. The statement encourages ending the clashes between Peshmerga forces and Iraqi forces and resolving the crisis through dialogue.

As the Kurdistan Regional Government, we support the content of this statement. We state that the clashes and crisis between the Peshmerga forces and the Iraqi army in the disputed territories must end at once.

At the same time, we support talks with Baghdad for the resolution of the issues in the framework of the Iraqi constitution.”
