YPG fighter injured in Turkish attack: I will return to frontline

Redur Kasir was wounded in a Turkish attack near Sadiya village in Afrin. “I want to return to the frontline as soon as I get well” he says.

Various examples of heroism spring from the resistance against invaders in Afrin since the beginning of Turkish invasion on January 20. YPG fighter Redur Kasir is one of them.

Kasir joined YPG in April 2013. He fought against ISIS in different parts of Rojava since then. When the Turkish attack started Kasir was deployed to the frontline in Rajo.

Kasir was in a group of YPG fighters who were defending Shadiya village on the border between Turkey and Syria. After the gangs supported by Turkey suffered heavy losses, the village was bombed by Turkish warplanes. Kasir was wounded in his leg during the bombardment.

He returned to the frontline after a few days at the hospital. Kasir’s group was affected by Turkey’s use of chemical weapon in Rajo.

“After the bombing there was a terrible smell. We washed a piece of cloth with blood and put it on our nose and tried to get out of the area in this way” he said.

Kasir was taken to Qamishli for treatment because of the injuries he suffered during the chemical attack. He urged all Kurdish youth to join the resistance in Afrin from his hospital bed.

“I will follow the path of our martyrs until the end of my life. I want to join the resistance as soon as I get well” he said.
