Youths protest the isolation of Öcalan at Qamishlo border

Youths from Qamishlo protested the isolation of Öcalan by lighting a fire at the border.

A group of youths from Rojava Youth’s Union and Young Women’s Union gathered at the border between Rojava’s Qamishlo city and Northern Kurdistan’s Nusaybin district of Mardin province Friday evening.

As part of the Serî Hilde (Rise Up) campaign, demonstrators protested the isolation imposed on Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan by the Turkish state.

Gathering around the fires they lit, young people chanted “Bê Serok Jiyan Nabe” (No Life Without the Leader) and “Terrorist Erdogan”.
