Syrian Democratic Council goes to Congress

The Third Congress will open on Monday.

Hikmet Hebib, member of the Executive Council of the Syrian Democratic Council (MSD), talked to ANHA about the Third Congress of the Council which will begin today.

Hikmet Hebib said that "the Third Congress of the MSD will take place at a time of political developments for the solution of the Syrian crisis. Since its foundation, the MSD has been working on democratic projects for all the components of Syria. The Syrian Democratic Council is the political umbrella of the SDF (Syrian Democratic Forces) that have liberated the region from DAESH (ISIS) mercenaries”.

Since the founding of the MSD, Syrian people have been adopting the model of decentralized administration based on democracy principles. Many political parties in and out of the country have adopted this model.

“The Syrian crisis will apparently enter the process of political conflict and dialogue. This political conflict is based on confrontation of all parties that have an interest in Syria.”

Hebib added that “the Third Congress of the MSD will take place with a great organization. Many parties, personalities, delegations from Syria and abroad will participate and discuss the delicate process Syria is going through”.

The Congress will prepare a political document addressing the people’s needs and administration for the future as well as assessing the situation of the people.

Hebib said there will be changes in the administration of the Council and strategic and organizational changes will be made as to the tasks of the Council.

Regarding the post-Congress process, Hikmet Hebib said that work would be done to establish a democracy front that embraces all Syrian peoples.
