Rojava hosts International Conference on Healthcare Practice

Italian doctors were prevented from crossing the border into Rojava by KDP.

Rojava Health Academy representatives gathered together with doctors from Rojhilatê (Eastern) Kurdistan and Europe, in the 2nd International Conference for Healthcare Practice Policy, which kicked off at the Aram Tigran Cultural Center in Rimelan.

The Democratic Autonomous Administration of Cizire and Afrin, representatives of TEV-DEM and Northern Syrian health institutions, members of YPG-YPJ and the Public Security Forces are joining the conference as guests.

The Conference will discuss issues such as support for health work in Rojava and Northern Syria, health work for women, children and general healthcare and education.

The annual study document of the Rojava Health Academy will also be read at the conference.

The Conference began with a minute’s silence to pay tribute to the martyrs of freedom, and then proceeded to name the presidency of the meeting.

Perwîn Roj, member of the Preparatory Committee for the Conference, said that it was the first time that an international health conference is taking place in Rojava and underlined the importance of such an event.

Italian doctors Ernesto Orvano, Paolo Osi and Marino Andolino, who wanted to attend the conference, were not allowed to cross the Sêmalka Border Gate by KDP officials, Perwîn Roj said.

The doctors will nevertheless attend the conference via Skype.

Rojava Health Academy held its first conference in May 2017.
