Democratic Union Party (PYD) co-chair Shahoz Hesen attended a meeting with PYD members in Kobane.

The meeting was held in the Martyrs' Families Council and it was organised to discuss and evaluate the latest developments in the region and the activities of PYD.

Reiterating that the Turkish state has occupied Afrin in cooperation with Russia and amid international silence, Shahoz Hesen said: “Their aim is to prevent the spread of the project and ideas carried out and implemented by the Democratic Federation of Northern Syria. Our project provides a solution for the Syrian crisis. The attacks carried out against Serekaniye, Kobane and Shengal were aimed at our democratic project”.

Hesen insisted that not solving the Kurdish question will actually deepen the crisis in the Middle East and added that the invading Turkish state's attacks on the Kurdish people are part of its genocidal policy aimed at destroying also the democratic project implemented in Rojava under the leadership of the PYD.

Hesen remarked that this project had an impact on the whole region and that the Turkish state and its mercenary allies were afraid that this democratic project would diminish the forces in the region.

Drawing attention to the continuing resistance against the occupying forces, Hesen added that it is important to continue the resistance and step up the struggle for the liberation of Afrin.

After the main speech delivered by the PYD co-chair, the meeting discussed the activities planned by the PYD.
