People of Kobanê protest against Turkish invasion

Kurds and their friends are taking to the streets in Kurdistan and all around the world today to mark 26 May Global Action Day against Turkish invasion of Rojava and Kurdistan.

Thousands from the Euphrates Region of Rojava gathered at the Free Women’s Square in Botan neighborhood of Kobanê today and staged a demonstration in protest against the Turkish invasion of Rojava and Kurdistan.

The demonstration is a follow-up of the signature campaign launched by various parties, intellectuals and civil society organizations a while ago calling on international institutions and world governments to take a stand against Turkish invasion and support the Kurdistan freedom struggle.

Demonstrators carried posters of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan and banners condemning the Turkish state’s policies against Kurdistan and invasion operation against Afrin. The march started from Free Women’s Square and ended at Martyr Egid Square.

Democratic Union Party (PYD) Assembly member Dilber Yusuf held a speech here and said; “Today is a historic day. Today is the beginning of a new process when we will enhance our struggle against Turkish fascism. Every inch of Kurdistan is an area of resistance.”

Yusuf said their primary goals include the liberation of Afrin from occupation, adding; “Free individuals will never accept Turkish invasion. Afrin and other parts of Kurdistan must be cleared of Turkish invasion.”
