People of Afrin in Shehba hopeful and resolute

People of Afrin who had to leave their lands due to the Turkish invasion live under harsh conditions in Shehba, but they say, “It is worth bearing these hardships for our lands which we shed so much of our blood for.”

Hundreds of thousands of people from Afrin continue their resistance under harsh conditions in the Shehba region following the invasion attacks against Afrin by the invading Turkish state and the Al Qaeda derivative gangs. Afrin families share tents, classrooms and shop floors and their blankets with several others in the Shehba region against Turkish colonialism and repeat their promise to take the Resistance of the Age to victory.

SHARING A SHOP WITH FIVE FAMILIES

A woman named Ewîş Bekir had to move from the Zarê village in Afrin to the Shehba Canton’s Ehres commune 10 days ago, and is now sharing a shop with five other families. She said they live under very harsh conditions but that they believe this will result in victory. Ewîş Bekir also said that the aid they receive is not enough: “There is aid coming in, but they are not enough as there are too many people. For instance, we receive bread but it’s not enough. But it will all pass. Inshallah the hardships we endure will be paid back in victory, and the blood of our martyrs will be avenged.”

MIGRATING IN A WHEELCHAIR

All schools and mosques in the Shehba region are full of people from Afrin. Several families share one classroom in the schools. Mistefa Kurdo, who is sharing a classroom in a school with two other families, said he took his disabled wife out of Afrin in a wheelchair, and they walked for miles. The family migrated from the Dimilya village in the Mabeta district and now continue their resistance on a straw mat and a blanket in a classroom in Ehres. Mistefa Kurdo said their situation is not good after the Turkish state’s invasion attacks.

KEY TO GETTING OUT OF THE TRAP: BERXWEDAN JIYAN E

Kurdo’s wife Sewriye Nibîş cursed the dire luck of the Kurds and said: “We Kurds have always suffered similar fates by the hands of states throughout history. I’m not going to appeal to Erdoğan. My words are for the UN, Russia, US and Iran. What calculations do you have over the Kurds? Why did you support this invasion? Don’t the Kurds have any friends?” Sewriye Nibiş concluded her words with a salute to the Resistance of the Age fighters and offered “Berxwedan Jiyan e” (“Resistance is life”) as the way out of this trap.

“NEVER AFTER SO MUCH BLOOD LOST”

Having migrated from the Basûtê village in the Sherawa district, Fîdan Hebîb continues her resistance in a tent she put up in a garden in Ehres. Fîdan Hebîb stressed that they will never abandon their lands and said: “We will never abandon our lands to the Turkish state, after suffering so much blood lost. We endure hardships, but it is worth it for our lands. There are plots of dirty politics enacted over us, but we will certainly prevail.”
