Orthodox Armenian Council visits Qamishlo

The Institution praised the model of governance implemented in Northern Syria.

The Orthodox Armenian Council visited the Foreign Relations Council of Cizire Canton to discuss the latest developments in the region, particularly in northern Syria.

Council president, Intranik Serkis and council members Xokas Xokasyan, Sirop Bak and Hano Maskoviyan were met by co-chair of the Foreign Relations Council, Ebdilkerîm Umer.

During the meeting developments in the region were discussed and suggestions heard.

At the meeting, which stressed the common life model that exists in northern Syria, it was also emphasized that the peoples of the region have established a solid unity among each other with strong ties throughout history.

It was also pointed out that all the conspiracies organised and promoted from outside, to destroy the achievements made by people in northern Syria and their model of governance devised and inspired by the philosophy of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan, have failed.

The meeting also praised the historical resistance of the YPG/YPJ (People's/Women's Defense Units) and SDF (Syrian Democratic Forces) who made it possible for Northern Syria to actually become the grave of radical and terrorists practices.

The Orthodox Armenian Council has welcomed as a positive step the ongoing meetings between the Syrian Democratic Council and the Syrian regime and stressed that a real solution to the crisis in Syria could only be reached through dialogue.
