MMC Spokesman: We are prepared for Erdogan’s threats

The defense forces of Manbij are prepared against the threats of Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Shervan Dervish, spokesman for Manbij Military Council said.

Responding to Turkish president Tayyip Erdogan’s threats, Manbij Military Council Spokesman Shervan Dervish said that they are prepared for a Turkish attack.

“Since the day that Manbij was liberated, Erdogan threatens Manbij for about one and a half years now. The level of threats was increased after the defeat of ISIS and the start of invasion attack on Afrin. Therefore, we increased our military presence on the border and are prepared for all kinds of attacks” Dervish said.

Dervish also spoke about the recent visit of the high-ranking officials of the international coalition and said, “Turkey has increased its threats. Because of that we met with the coalition and we will stay in touch. We promised our people that we will defend Manbij. We are prepared for this.”

Manbij was liberated by Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) from ISIS back in 2016. Turkey has been threatening SDF forces with military intervention and demands that the area be handed over to Al-Qaeda and Al-Nusra affiliated Free Syrian Army.
